Mungkin dulu kita sudah mengenal Descriptive Text, Narrative Text, dan Procedure Text di jenjang SMP. Recount text merupakan salah satu kelompok yang mirip dengan Descriptive, Narrative, dan Procedure. Yuk kita simak materinya, Sunners. Check this out!

Recount Text

Recount text adalah jenis teks yang menceritakan kembali sesuatu yang telah terjadi di masa lalu. Contohnya, kejadian ketika Ani bertemu dengan Beni saudara sepupunya, ketika Adi liburan ke Raja Ampat bersama keluarga, dan lain sebagainya. Tujuan dari Recount Text yaitu memberikan informasi, memotivasi dan menghibur.

Biasanya kalau di Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia, kita diberi tugas oleh guru membuat karangan bebas selama libur sekolah. Tugas karangan bebas tersebut termasuk Recount Text dalam bahasa inggris. Bagaimana bestie, cukup terbayang kan Sunners, teksnya seperti apa, kalau kalian terbiasa membuat karangan bebas ketika pelajaran bahasa indonesia, pasti akan lebih mudah dalam membuat dan memahami recount text. Sama seperti membuat karangan bebas, Recount Text juga memiliki kerangka dan struktur tertentu dalam membuat sebuah Recount Text yang baik, diantaranya:

Struktur Recount Text terdiri dari:

1. Orientation

Pengenalan yang menginformasi pembaca tentang tokoh, tempat, dan kapan terjadinya di masa lampau.

2. Events

Serangkaian peristiwa atau kegiatan yang terjadi. Biasanya diceritakan secara berurutan, misalnya. At first, … Then, ….

3. Reorientation

Akhir dari cerita dan sifatnya opsional, sebab bisa berupa rangkuman dari semua yang telah diceritakan, komentar atau kesan pribadi, atau  himbauan serta recount text tersebut menceritakan tentang pengalaman tidak menyenangkan seperti pencurian dan lain-lain.

Language Features yang digunakan dalam pembuatan Recount Text terdiri dari:

1. Past tense

menggunakan struktur kalimat masa lalu

2. Time Connective

kata penghubung waktu, seperti after, before, at first, then, after that, dan lain-lain.

3. Adverbs

kata keterangan untuk menunjukkan waktu, tempat, atau cara misalnya yesterday, three months ago, last year, at home, slowly, carefully, dan lain-lain.

Setelah kita mengetahui struktur kerangka dan Language Feature dalam membuat Recount Text, berikut ini salah satu contoh Recount Text.

My Last Holiday

Last month, I went to Pari island with my big family. That was my second time traveling there. I did not remember my first time because I was still three years old.

Our boat departed from Muara Angke port to the island at 7.00 a.m. We arrived at Pari island in approximately two hours. After that, we went to our guest house that we booked two months ago. When we got there, almost all family members were busy unpacking. I just sat in front of the guest house and did nothing. Then I realized that it was still 10 a.m. So, I went out to rent a bicycle. My brother did not want to join me because he went to sleep. He said that it was too shiny to do snorkeling.

We finally had lunch at 1 p.m. I was so hungry after cycling for an hour, and did not have any snacks. After lunch, my brother said that he wanted to go snorkeling. But my parents said it was too hot. Well, it was 2 p.m. So, they were right. It was still hot outside.

But my brother insisted on doing it. He then asked me and our cousin Irwan to join him to do the thing he really wanted to do by the time we arrived there. It was snorkeling. Irwan agreed and pushed me to join.

I did not know why I agreed to join them. When we went snorkeling, the fisherman who became our guide brought us to the beach far enough from our guest house. We went snorkeling there. The water was very clear. We could see groups of tiny fishes and beautiful coral under the sea. After snorkeling cheerfully for approximately three hours, we returned to our guest house.

When we were home, I realized that my back was so itchy. At first, I did understand why. After my mother found out, she started to nag at me. It was sunburnt. I did not enjoy the rest of the other days staying there.

In summary, my second trip to Pari island was not really better than my first. I would like to visit this place again together with my family in another chance. But, I would not do snorkeling at 2 a.m. for three hours anymore.

Recount Text terdiri dari 3 jenis, di antaranya:

1. Factual Recount Text

Recount Text yang pertama ini menceritakan hal-hal fakta seperti laporan ilmu pengetahuan, laporan kepolisian, atau kejadian nyata dalam sejarah.

2. Personal Recount Text

Personal Recount adalah teks yang berisi pengalaman pribadi kita. Contoh Recount Text singkat yang dapat kita jumpai sehari-hari, yaitu note yang bertuliskan tentang kejadian yang kita alami hari ini atau tweet yang berisi curhatan kita.

3. Imaginative Recount Text

Recount Text yang ketiga ini cocok sekali untuk kita yang daya imajinasinya tinggi karena berisi pengalaman imajinatif. Contohnya kita bercerita tentang pengalaman kita menonton dan menikmati konser satu grup favorit dalam mimpi.

Recount Text juga termasuk dalam materi soal bagian Reading di UTBK SBMPTN nantinya. Yuk kita simak contoh soal dan Pembahasan mengenai Recount Text dibawah ini Sunners:

Roy Trenton used to drive a taxi. A short while ago, however, he became a bus driver.

When he was driving along Catford Street recently, he saw two thieves rush out of a shop and run towards a waiting car. One of them was carrying a bag full of money. Roy acted quickly and drove the bus straight at the thieves. The one with the money got such a fright that he dropped the bag.

As the thieves were trying to get away in their car, Roy drove his bus into the back of it. While the damaged car was moving away, Roy stopped his bus and telephoned the police. The thieves’ car was badly damaged and easy to recognize.

Shortly afterwards, the police stopped the car and both men were arrested.
